subject: Energy Flow is a Chain of Events [print this page]

Sitting and enjoying a silent meditation opens your mind and your body to the energies surrounding you. On a cool morning, sitting on the pier at the water's edge, you reflect on the wind gently blowing around you. This causes a series of events - impacting other energies surrounding you, possibly even you. Is this a disruption of energy or just the ebbs and flows of the universe? As gentle as it may be, it still has an impact. As with everything in life, there is a cause and effect. What energy forces are influencing, gentle or not, your life balance? The following three examples demonstrate energy flows - one with nature and two with self - to build your personal awareness.

Wind Example

1. The gentle wind produces ripples in the lake.

2. The gentle wind moves the branches of the tree and shakes the leaves to the ground.

3. As the lake waves ripple, the fallen leaves from the trees and the uprooted lake plants float along and collect along the shore.

4. The rippling water produces movement of the pier and the attached pontoon boat.

5. The waves gently slap against the shore rocks, creating a sound; a disruption of the silence.

6. The wind carries neighboring sounds of a construction crew and industrial vehicles closer, again disrupting the silence.

7. The gentle wind cools the body as it cools the air.

8. The mild wind intensifies bird flight patterns and upsets nests resting in the trees, possibly breaking bird eggs to end future generations of bird

9. Conversely, the calm wind dries the wet sheets pinned and drying on the clothing line.

10. The windblown sheets bring peace and comfort when placed on the bed.

Self Example 1

1. Your dog barks loudly and awakes the neighbors when you take him out for his morning ritual.

2. The neighbors angrily greet you at the fence line to share their frustration and rage.

3. You feel guilt and responsibility, although it's natural for your dog to get excited at the morning birds and squirrels.

4. You feel very small and sad as you take the heat and then walk away.

5. You return inside the house to answer the phone and you react by snapping at the person on the other line.

6. Meanwhile the neighbors are expressing their discontentment with each other over their breakfast, making for a heated start to their day. This carries with them throughout the day - an imbalanced mind and body - causing heartache and pain.

7. You recognize that you can either shrug it off or internalize the situation. You decide that it's not a big deal and that it's their lack of self-love for the heated disturbance and go about your day in peace.

8. Later in the day, you give your neighbors a present - a set of ear plugs wrapped pretty in a gift bag with ribbon and a personal note.

9. You awake the next day to follow the dog's daily ritual. The question isis it a peaceful morning equipped with ear plugs or another heated interaction? Regardless, you forgave yourself and in turn said your peace with yourself and your neighbors. It's their choice of response and happiness in life.

Self Example 2

1. You awake from a peaceful, long night sleep and proceed to your morning yoga class.

2. You vigorously empower and detoxify your body and mind as you sweat and balance both elements.

3. You slowing arise from your yoga mat to take your balanced body and your yoga practice into your day.

4. You feel peace and quiet as you kindly drive home.

5. You take a warm cleansing shower to remove the toxins that released from your body.

6. You curl up with your hot vata tea, a warm blanket, and your journal to reflect on how much you love your life.

7. You generously send a heart-felt message to someone in need of support.

8. That person is filled with love and support to carry on the rest of the day.

9. The person reflects on her life, realizes the lightness of the challenges, and determines it's just a bump in the road and that overall life is good, just not balanced at this time.

10. You awake the next day, proceed to your morning yoga class, and place your mat next to your friend who you loved and supported the previous day. She is there because of your generosity and the two of you will take her balanced mind and body into the remainder of your day.

Believe it or not, there is beauty in each of these examples. If you let the more disturbing energies influence you, you'll move your body and mind out of alignment. This is part of the human experience. As you gain confidence in yourself and listen to that which centers you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, you'll find it easier to address the more disturbing energies around you. You don't have to take in the negative, but when you do, you have the skills to bring yourself back to your core - your place of center and peace. Listen to your mind and body, reflect on the messages they send you, and self-correct as necessary. When two energies meet, the frequency of the dominate energy wins and influences the other on the vibrational scale. If each person lightens and brightens their energy a bit more each day, the universe will carry much less energetic disruptions - a magical step towards world peace.
