subject: Identifying with Christ [print this page] God is the God of a second chance and has made provision to cover or remit our sins through the blood of Jesus. Every act of forgiveness costs something; either the life of an animal, in the old covenant or Christ's in the new covenant. God loves even the vilest sinners and is willing to accept them and relate with them as though they never sinned, if only they will repent. No sin is greater than the love of God. It is mandatory that the individual who desires forgiveness must repent and ask for it. A tender, humble and contrite heart that is quick to repent on conviction is the secret to holy living and sustained righteousness. Lastly, we must learn to forgive ourselves after God has forgiven us and also pray for the grace and wisdom to relate with others.
