subject: Tips for Dealing with Acid Reflux Causes [print this page]

Heartburn or acid reflux is an avoidable disorder. Heartburn occurs when the stomach produces more acid than it can control and this acid eventually makes it's way up the esophagus and into the throat. Once in a while there is a medical reason for this. Usually though the condition known as heartburn is caused by something you've done or something that you do habitually. We will discuss these causes and how to prevent them during the course of this article.

Do you enjoy consuming food? Of course you do. Eating a good meal is enjoyable to most people. Some people enjoy a good meal so much that they eat too much of it. Most of us will end up doing this once in a while. After we have done this and enjoyed that meal so much we often feel as if our chest is going to explode. Definately a sign of acid reflux. In these times, your heartburn is caused because of your overeating too quickly and your stomach couldnt digest it fast enough. Acid is released from the stomach because there isn't enough room for it to remain where it belongs. Not eating so much all at once will help you avoid this. Another acid reflux cause is pregnancy. If there is an irregularity with hormone production, the fetus can push against the abdomen, causing these symptoms to occur. If you are pregnant and suffering from acid reflux, the final three months are usually the worst. Sadly, pregnant women with acid reflux don't have many options except to wait it out. Luckily, this type of acid reflux does not usually last beyond pregnancy, so it should vanish once your baby is born. You can always remind your child of all this pain he or she caused you later on.

Your acid reflux can be triggered if you bend over shortly after eating a heavy meal. The food in stomach needs to be broken down to be of use to your body so when the stomach is full, you produce more acid. The fuller your stomach the more likely that the flap that keeps the food and acid in the stomach will flutter. You can end up with acid in your esophagus because bending over can cause this flap to fail. Staying upright after you eat can help you avoid this situation. The majority of the time you can easily avoid acid reflux. If you can keep stress under control, eat right and make smart lifestyle decisions you can avoid the experience of heartburn or acid reflux. Work with your doctor to identify the major acid reflux causes in your life. You will figure out how to best treat your condition with the help of your doctor.
