You are more likely to suffer from an acid reflux attack when you don't sleep enough because being overly tired can cause your stomach to produce more acid. If you get enough sleep you will probably see the frequency of the attacks reduced.

Various drugs and medicines can be acid reflux causes. It has become fairly well known that muscle relaxers can cause acid reflux and heartburn. Blood pressure medications can also contribute to heartburn. Even over the counter blood thinners like Advil and ibuprofen can cause an acid reflux attack. People who are sensitive to these type of drugs should not take them if possible.

If you can't stop taking medications that cause such symptoms, try to find out from your doctor if there is any way to reduce or eliminate these problems.

Another culprit of acid reflux is caffeine. Caffeine is hard on the body. You may want to consider cutting down on your caffeine intake to see if that helps reduce your number of attacks. Living without acid reflux is a good reason to face the problem of caffeine withdrawals. Switch to decaf and let your body heal. Most of the time acid reflux is very easy to avoid. Living a good lifestyle, reducing stress, and eating right are the simplest of ways to avoid these conditions. Consult your physician if you think you have any of the symptoms of acid reflux. You will figure out how to best treat your condition with the help of your doctor.
