subject: Computers Are A Daily Part Of Life [print this page]

Many of us use computers daily and there are certain things we should know about them. Many of us sit with mice and keyboards in front of the computer every day. This may happen so often we do not want to look at another screen ever again. And although computers are extremely useful for work, they are also useful for other tasks.

The center of the house often contains a computer and provides the ability for children to learn and complete homework or for the family to keep up with each other. For adults, computers help with work and business making it a wonderful tool to have around. However, if it begins to be used too much by a person it can be an issue. Of course, we all have seen how some of us can get addicted to social networking or playing online games, which presents another issue with excessive computer use.

Cyberspace can often become overwhelming for its vastness, so rules should be set in order to stop this addictive trend in your household and help your family to stay away from these tendencies. The many hours that go by while we spend our time near a computer for games or networking can put a damper on real world living. What you should do is think of the computer as a means to have fun, because it is for enjoyment, so you can put a stop to excessive use.

Just like movies and T.V. or even other methods of relaxation, what you want to do is set boundaries for how much time you spend online. Video gaming that happens on these computers is another thing that most people think spending too much time with is wasteful. On one hand, some say they are useless, and on the other hand, some say they are artistic in nature. But what we mostly agree on is they are a form of entertaining material and are similar to music and books, which are designed to help us relax.

Most people who go on the computer do not do so to read a lengthy novel or book, however, most games would expect you to read parts of them as you play. You will usually read and figure out what you are supposed to do while simultaneously following a storyboard. Unlike movies, games are interactive and provide you with choices. Creativity and judgment are part of playing a computer game, and help you understand a plot while you get to the ending.
