Rumors are that the actor is considering making a return to the Land Down Under where grew up before heading to the United States at age 12. This follows reports of him having sold his home near New York and having put his Malibu house up for sale.
However, the story is far from fact. His representative even went so far as to tell the Sydney Morning Herald that "There's no truth to the Mail story [that Mel Gibson is moving to Australia]" and that he is, in fact, working on a new project in New York.
Gibson has been at the center of controversy over the past year after a drunken anti-Semitic tirade was spewed forth by him to a police officer and, most recently, a nasty, high profile custody dispute with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva over their 8 month old daughter. The last controversy has resulted in claims that he was violent and punched Grigorieva.
While it should be repeated that nothing has been confirmed, it would also come as no surprise that Mel Gibson has come to the same conclusion as many other expats. Moving to Australia just might be the answer to the problems.
Whether Mel Gibson is moving to Australia or not does not matter. As everyone knows many other people are, and in record numbers.
