Windows Media Player is great software for watching and playing movies on. Although many people have the software installed on their computers many do not know how to use or play their movies on it.

Media player is very user friendly software. It only takes a few moments to learn the basics in order to know how to use it properly. If you have recorded videos on your computer and have the Window Media Player software on your computer, then it is time to learn how to use it.

The great thing is you do not need to have degree in computer programming to know how to use it. Just follow these steps to get you started:

Step 1

Open up Windows Media Player by clicking Start "" All Programs "" Windows Media Player.

Step 2

When the window opens increase it by clicking on the Maximise button. You will find this located at the top right hand corner of your screen. It will have two squares with one in front of the other. The icon is between the x and the underscore button.

Step 3

At the top side bar you will see the Library button. Select this and then select video.

Step 4

A window will appear that provides a list of video folders. Choose the Library folder where you have saved your movie file.

Step 5

To play this file all you have to do is double click on it. Windows Media Player provides you with a suite of tools that you can use to make the most of your viewing experience. You can access these tools at the bottom of the screen and they will enable you to perform the following:

Pause and Play: You will notice in the center bar below the screen is the play back controls. With these you can begin playing the movie. You can pause the movies by clicking on the circular pause button in the middle.

Volume: You can control the volume and sound of the movie you are playing. The volume control can be found on the control bar below the screen to the right side of the playback controls. It is very easy as all you have to do is drag the arrow along the bar to either increase or decrease the volume. There is also a mute control to cut out the audio while the movies are still playing.

Skip feature: If you are watching more than one movie you can use the skip feature to move from one movie to the next. The skip controls are the arrows that are situated on either side of the Play/Pause button.
