If you have someone that has broken up with a loved one who is suddenly saying that they still love their ex, what is it they are trying to say. If it was an abusive situation and you are now free from it, dont even think about trying it again. You will be right back in a bad situation again. If the two of you broke up because of conflicting interests or just felt you were not compatible then maybe you have a chance of getting back together again. You would have to see what your exs attitude is and if you can detect the possibility of reuniting.
