subject: It Can Be Fun And Easy To Learn Spanish [print this page]

If you don't speak a second language, thinking about learning Spanish may seem a little intimidating. Maybe someone told you to begin with Spanish as it's easiest to learn. The good news is that it's not hard to learn almost any language. You'll just need to decide on what tools and tricks for learning you want to use. There are lots of tips that you can use to help make learning Spanish easier. Here are a few tricks that you can try:

It's much easier to learn from a CD course. A course on CD is really great for anyone who feels shy about taking on a new language. You can just listen to the words, and then hear how they're used in full sentences. With a CD, there'll be no worries about mistakes in front of others, plus the material is of equal quality as found in a classroom. And with a CD, you'll be able to practice Spanish if you're traveling, etc. You can just use a CD player, or you can download lessons on an MP3 player and you're all set! There are no limits to where you can learn Spanish. Try to make yourself think in Spanish as much as possible.

Whenever you catch yourself thinking about anything, make the effort to translate whatever it is into Spanish. You won't be able to do this very well at first, but be patient. Periodically throughout your day ask yourself how you would say the words you are thinking in Spanish. The more often you do this, the better you will be at it. You will get faster at the translation. You will know you have mastered this when you find that you sometimes think in the new language when you aren't even intending. The next stage is to take your internal thoughts and speak them out loud, so you learn how to converse in Spanish.

Watch movies and television shows that are in Spanish. There are a lot of shows broadcast in Spanish now and every movie rental house will have a section of movies in other languages. You'll hear how Spanish words are suppose to be spoken.

And this will help you if you cannot have access to anyone who speaks Spanish. Just start by watching with subtitles on. Then as your understanding increases, just turn them off and check yourself. You can accelerate your learning by doing this exercise.

There are lots of reasons to learn another language but figuring out the best way to learn that language can be tough. You might be tempted to just head to the bookstore and pick up the latest book on whatever language you are trying to learn. Classes are great, as are meeting and getting to know people fluent in Spanish. There are a lot of options available when you want to learn Spanish (or any other language). Have fun with it!
