subject: His Royal Coolness: A New Way To Advertise [print this page]

Style is everythingStyle is everything. From fashion to accessories to modern business landscape everyone would have his or her two cents worth about what is cool and what is not. As a transfer high school student would feel in his first day in school; so would a new start up business feels as they try to learn whats cool in the industry. You either go slow and blend in the crowd to know who is who and what is in or not; or you can trail blaze and create a huge impact in the community. Either way, what you want to do is to be recognized as an industry cool because coolness equals good business.

But just like you, a lot of businesses are asking themselves, how can my business, my product or my brand become cool? Should you go loco over advertising through all sorts of media including online mass production of cheap brochure printing or through social networking tools such as Twitter or Facebook? Would you go to the extreme of getting the services of cool media celebrities to endorse your product, your brand, or your company?

In case you are wondering, coolness is achievable as leaders are made. Coolness is not by sheer luck. There are actually some guides to attain a level that will make you or your business, well, cool. Even for small or medium sized companies who do not have deep pockets, coolness is an achievable mission.

Read on and understand how coolness can be achieved:

First, you must realize that different people have different interpretation of what is cool. A high school kid would probably think that a classmate who is driving his own car and goes out with a cheerleader is cool. A professional would think someone is cool if he drives a Ducati to work. Anyway, what is important is for you to identify how your prospects or your target clients define cool. Take time to discover what these people think is cool. By knowing what drives your target population, you can now discuss them with your brochure printer or whoever does your marketing collaterals to design your materials in a way that would capture whatever is driving your prospects.

Second, find out who are the cool people. You can either engage these popular or well connected people or listen to what they are talking about to know more about current trends or you can invite this cool person to try your product. The latter option has been used by a lot of companies before but there are times that these cool endorsements backfire. Take the case of cool celebrities who suddenly found themselves embroiled in a controversy. With this, endorsements suffer and a few people would still want to be identified with the disgraced cool person. The results, as you may well know, may be tragic for your business.

Third, pursue a passion. A passion is cool to those who are mesmerized by people who pursue them. A husband and wife team who cooks up delectable dishes from their home two hours from my place is getting all sorts of customers from various places because word has gotten around that they whip up fantastic dishes. They did not advertise nor did they engage any brochure printer, they just pursued their passion and the rest, as they say is history. People wanted to try the food, people wanted to share in their blogs or Twitter that they have been there. If you have been to the place and sampled the food of the couple, you are definitely in.

The bottom line is that coolness can be achieved. There are lots of ways to make sure that you achieve this but one things for sure, it will take a bit of a time to get you to His Royal Coolness level.
