subject: Tips For Improving Your Social Interaction [print this page]

Do you find social interaction difficult? Are you shy? Do you wish to find ways to become more socially adept and overcome shyness? This article is a simple guide to improving your social skills.

It could be said that awareness is the key. Becoming more aware of how we present ourselves to others can make a huge contribution to increasing our social prowess.

The first steps concern presentation. We can be aware that this is the first way in which we project our self to others. We can make sure that we give the impression we want by taking care of our hygiene, being clean and smelling good. Wearing appropriate clothing, looking as good as we can and taking care of ourselves by keeping fit. This will give us a head start and will help us to get off on the right footing with people we interact with.

The second step concerns body language. We can make an impression on people by the way in which stand, move our body parts and talk. If we are aware of this then we can control how we will be received.

Thirdly, we can be ware of what we say and how much we say. It is important not to say to much or too little but be conscious of when is the right time to talk and when is the time to be quiet. Understanding how what we say may make others feel is important. Sometimes we may say things innocently without thinking the negative effect it may cause the other person. If we are thoughtful and question whether it is necessary to say something that may be hurtful or provoking, there is more chance of a smooth and pleasant interaction.

I hope this article has been helpful and wish you all the best in your social interactions.
