subject: Only The Super Rich Can Book Private Jet Flights [print this page]

Youve seen them in the moviesYouve seen them in the movies. Corporate bigwigs hop on them at will. Theyre sleek, stylish, and fast. But have you ever really considered booking a flight on a private jet? If youre like most people, probably not. Youve probably been trained to think that air travel by private jet is only for billionaires or those lucky enough to win such a trip on a television game show. But here is some interesting information about booking a flight on a private jet that might prove useful if you decide youd like to avoid the masses and hassle of regular air travel.

Is it Feasible or Reasonable?

Private jets sitting empty still have to be maintained. There are often maintenance costs, flight crew costs and other necessities involved in aircraft maintenance or storage that must be paid for, whether or not the jet is airborne. Its kind of like a vacation home. If its not being rented, you still have to pay for its upkeep. So it makes sense that in certain cases, private jet owners or operators would rather let a jet go at less than cost to at least recoup some of the money needed to maintain it. This means that depending on your situation and travel needs, chartering a private jet could be both feasible and reasonable.

At other times, a jet might have to leave one location to reposition for an upcoming flight. Once again, operation with a paying passenger or passengers, even if the rate is greatly reduced, can make up for some of the cost of operating the flight. Often by joining a service specializing in private jet flight bookings or utilizing an air charter agent, you can find better rates and deals on private jet flights.

Is it Affordable?

So if a chartered private jet flight is possible, is it affordable, and if so, affordable for whom? Of course, just as with regular air travel, pricing will often depend on availability, destination, and the timing of the flight. What you have to remember when you book a private jet flight is that there is the added comfort and prestige of a private plane, and whereas you might be spending upwards of a thousand dollars for a first class ticket on a standard airline only to gain a forward seat and a little extra leg room, on a private flight, the facilities and standards of service you receive may be higher.

You may even be able to save time and money when on business travel by hosting meetings onboard with colleagues and clients. Not only this, but you may avoid many of the lengthy waits, extra baggage fees, and delays often involved in standard airport service while enjoying added comfort and the relaxation often associated with private jet accommodations.
