subject: Ill Practice While Passing An Exam. Does It Really Work? [print this page] What is passing an exam? What is passing an exam?
Passing an exam is always a double battle. From the one hand it is a battle with oneself. The main goal here to achieve is to cope with different fears and expectations, superstitions and real facts. From the other hand it is a battle with the examiner. The aim of such battle is to shift the higher position of the examiner as a conversationalist, convince him that a student can be a good public speaker that can throw dust in somebodys eyes. Dishonest students use dishonest methods.
How do they do this?
1)They do not keep silence and try to say something if they are asked. They do not make pauses. Silence, even if it is thoughtful is supposed to be considered as absence of knowledge by the examiner.
2)They speak as quickly as they can. The more quickly one speaks the harder it is to understand and follow ones thought concept.
3)They speak in obscure manner. The usage of complex words derived from foreign languages sometimes confuses ones thought and at the mean time may frighten the examiner who would never confess about ignorance of some foreign words.
4)They speak significantly. The significance is present in their words, intonation, gestures. The double sense of ones speech provides to turn the conversation into the necessary direction.
5)They speak in a way that leads to discussion. Their task at the exam is to provoke discussion that would distract the examiner from the primary theme and questions needed to be answered.
6)They use every opportunity to gain time. Any exam does not last forever. That is why students do everything to take extra time during which one could think about ones question.
7)They are ready to recall things they never knew. Not to flunk the exam, such students began to think about the answer, say everything they can imagine connected with the question.
