subject: Can Multi Stop Shipments Be Scheduled With Your Courier Company? [print this page]

Your courier service Illinois will have several different delivery options for you to select from. The options that they present are usually more than enough to meet the needs of people who only need to ship small packages one at a time. For companies that need to send bigger orders out to multiple clients though, shipping operations can be much more complicated. As a result, sometimes courier companies get asked about the possibility of scheduling shipments which are going to include more than one stop.

Whether or not you can make a multi stop shipment is entirely dependent on what kind of service you order from your particular courier service. When using a regular parcel service, it isn't likely that you're going to be able to have the option of having a multi stop delivery made. The one time that this might be possible is if you're willing to not have any say in how long there is between the deliveries, or in which order they are made. Also, this will only usually be an option if there are only a few stops involved in the delivery run.

If you want to make more complex and complicated multi stop delivery runs, then you're going to have to look into some shipping options where the courier is dedicated only to making your deliveries. You have a couple of ways you can do this. One good way is by hiring a driver to work just for your company for a day. Then you can easily schedule multiple stop deliveries and dictate every last detail of the shipments, including the order the drop offs are made in.

Another way that this can be done which is commonly used by those who are shipping on a much larger scale is by shipping FTL. This is a term used within the trucking industry which means full truck load. In this scenario, only your goods are going to be carried by the truck you are using, meaning you can have a multi stop delivery of any kind made as you wish.

If these options don't work for you, then simply ask your courier company if they are able to accommodate a multi stop shipment. There are times when what you need done can simply be worked in with their existing delivery schedules with no problem, so it is always worth simply describing your needs and seeing what can be done to meet them.
