subject: Evo IX vs Evo X - Which Do You Need? [print this page]

The 9th generation Evolution IX made its concept debut in the Tokyo auto show in March of 2005 by stunning onlookers with its flawless mystique. The IX drove off on the united states pavement in 2006.

Within two years the Evo X was born and to Evo enthusiasts it was a shocker as the performance was not superior and weighed heaver with the wider body. While the Evo IX can wrap up more horsepower to the wheels as the 10th generation. The Evo X seems to be more sleek and performance is comparable to the the IX. All models released to the united states were stock with 293 horsepower with the 213 kW engine.

The Evo rides on air but quite frankly, the Evo X is a beast - all wheel drive, turbo and has reported up to 405 whp leaving its competition in the dust. Mitsubishi created the four models in 2007 and were released in 2008 to the US. Three models include: Grand Sport Rally (GSR), Rally sport (RS), Special Edition (SE) and Mitsubishi Racing (MR). You'll find differences to the Evo X is that it is a few years newer and a few pounds lighter.

The Evo X MR isn't like it used to be in the days. Now it is More of a daily driver with GPS navigation, and an in dash dvd player already built in. The dated models didn't have that, it just came with the bear neccessities and left you to add your own. Not to mention six months subscription prepaid to Sirius Satellite radio on the Rockford Fosgate 2010 maximum performance audio system. With increased features like these, sign me up.

If given a chance, I would suggest going with a Japanese model first, if that isn't available and you are left to US models, I vote Evo X. Its sleek body and immaculate aggressive appearance is certain to draw some eyes. However with the speed the X offers, they may not even have a option to see you.
