The CPA Exam is offered up to six days each week during each testing window. Once you are approved to sit for the exam, you should make an appointment with Prometric for a particular regional testing center on a particular day and time. You cannot state that you would like to be there sometime during the week of the 21st.
You can schedule your appointment for a specific testing location and "reserve" your seat for that day and time *by going online at www.prometric.comcpa *by phone at 1-800-580-9648 (Candidate Services Call Center) or *by contacting your local test center. It is suggested that you schedule early: as much as 45 days before your preferred date to get the date, time, and location you prefer.
The 2010 Uniform CPA Examination will be delivered at more than 300 Prometric test centers in the US via a computerized platform. (Not every Prometric center offers the CPA Exam so be sure to check. Never assume anything.) You can go to www.prometric.com/cpa to gather general information about the test center and/or use the Test Center Locator and Scheduler. Since the website is up 24 hours a day, you can reschedule or cancel appointments at any time.
Remember that your appointment starts 30 minutes before your test so that you have time to complete registering and the survey. These 30 minutes is not subtracted from your testing time. Completing your paperwork in a rush will not give you extra time on your test.
What to Do on Test Day
These are some basic hints on what how to be prepared on the day you sit for the CPA Exam:
1.Arrive at least 30 minutes early at the test center to complete the sign-in process and the survey.
2.If you complete these steps before the examination, it will not infringe on your allotted examination time.
3.Bring the Notice to Schedule (NTS) and two forms of identification. See the Candidate Bulletin to ascertain acceptable forms of identification. Test centers may have different rules so do not assume that every Prometric test center from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon, accepts the same types of identification. Know what to bring and bring it!
4.Know the rules about the launch of the examination and do not violate them. For instance, you have 10 minutes to complete the first steps of the test. If you do not complete the steps in those 10 minutes, you may be prevented from continuing the test.
5.Understand what is considered acceptable behavior and do not violate the rules. Doing so could result in your expulsion from the test.
