subject: China and Tibet-what Next? [print this page] As things stand the world and India can only sit and watch as a bystander as the Chinese systematically suppress Tibet culture. It is indeed a sad time as all that the United Nations and the USA can do is utter homilies. The Chinese also want no solution until it is on their own terms and do not want to talk to the Dalai Lama in India. Tibetan culture is totally suppressed and a curtain is drawn all over Tibet. There appears to be little hope for the Tibetan people. In hindsight the folly of Nehru in not reacting to the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950 will remain a blunder of the greatest magnitude.
