subject: Use Quality Cricket Equipment [print this page]

A considerable amount of money is spent on equipments for players in match. There is much awareness amongst the masses for cricket equipments due to interest shown by many companies. The equipments which are used in cricket are ball, bat, batting gloves, helmet, box, pads, thigh-pad, arm-guard, rib-guard, stumps and wicket keeping gloves. Bat is used for hitting the ball. Ball is made up of hard cork from inside and leather from outside. Batting gloves protect the fingers of batter whereas the pads protect the legs of wicket-keeper and the batter. The groin area is protected by the box. Helmet protects from ball.

Cricket Equipmentincludes wickets which consist of three wooden pieces which are approximately 28 inches in height. These three pieces are placed 22 yards apart and are covered with pointed metal covering for fixing them properly in the ground. These stumps are crowned by two bails that are small wooden pieces. The stumps have grooves at the top so that the bails can fit into these grooves.

In cricket when there is a play, if one of these bails is knocked out then the batsman is bowled. The stump on the same side of the batsmans bat is referred as off stump. The centre stump is called middle stump. Leg stump is the stump on the same side of the batmans legs. In case of a left-handed batsman, his off stump is the leg stump of a right-handed batsman. Stumps are also used for advertisements of the sponsors.

In 1990s, stump cameras along with the stump microphones were introduced in many professional matches and since then they are used widely for rechecking when a batsman is out. They give an exclusive view of the match and clear sound of the ball. To insert the camera in the stumps one of them is made hollow. Snickometers were also used earlier for detecting sounds. The latest cameras used by the commentators are hot spot. For minute detection these hot spots have proved to be very supportive in the matches.

The use of modern technology in facilitating the conventional decisions in cricket has been improved in these years. Many stores have also come up with standard quality Sports Equipmentproviding online buying facilities.
