May 6--Don't tell Cal Bailey that his West Virginia State baseball team, for once, may not be favored to win the West Virginia Conference tournament.
It's hard not to like the Yellow Jackets' chances this time of year -- they've won 16 WVC championships in Bailey's 31 seasons as coach and have appeared in eight of the last 10 title games.

The Yellow Jackets (28-12), who play host Pitt Johnstown (28-16) in the noon opener, lost their last three games to end the regular season and have dropped six of their past nine. Earlier this week, they weren't even the WVC's highest-ranked team in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region -- that honor fell to Concord (28-7) before the ratings were juggled Wednesday.
