Prince Edward Island is considered one of the premier golfing destinations in Canada and North America, for that matter. If you find yourself wanting to play nothing but golf for a seven day stretch, then you may want to make a beeline for PEI sitting in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence. You will immediately fall in love with the coastal dunes, and breathtaking ocean views, lush forestry and pastoral farmlands.
Located just 45 minutes east of Charlottetown, Brudenell River Golf Course is a great starting place for a golfing vacation. The Brudenell Course is 5655 yards long and a Par 70. It is very scenic with many holes situated alongside the Brudenell River. Check out the Canadian Golf Academy, which is also located here, and offers state of the art practice facilities.
A relatively new course on the tour is the Dundarave Golf Course, which is a par 72. It is a challenging 7284 yards of play. Drive a half hour and find the Belfast Highland Greens course, which is a nine hole course great for practicing or for taking a short break between grueling 18 hole courses. Start an early morning by playing Avondale Golf Course on your way to The Links at Crowbush Cove located in Lakeside. This course features nine water holes and sports a five star rating from Golf Digest, which lists it as one of the sweet sixteen courses worldwide.
One hour outside Crowbush to the west, you will find Glasgow Hills Resort and Golf Club which offers sensational views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Clyde River. If you're headed north, then check out the historic Green Gables Golf Course situated in Cavendish PEI National Park. Turn west to find your next destination which should be Mill River, which is said to be North America's best golf value as well as one of the most challenging courses in Eastern Canada. Save enough energy to drive the two hours back to Charlottetown for first class overnight accommodations in the downtown part of the city
There are many courses within a spit and wink of Charlottetown, so be sure and check them out, including Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club. Ask your travel agent for more golfing suggestions if you wish to stay longer on at many of the famed PEI cottages and hotels Prince Edward Island. As well along the way don't forget to stop at one of the many other PEI tourist and travel destinations such as Cavendish Beach, Anne of Green Gables, or one of the many lobster supper locations.
