subject: The Price Of Dance [print this page]

Over the past few years, dance seems to have become more and more popular, largely attributed to certain reality TV shows. 'Strictly Come Dancing,' and it's American equivalent, 'Dancing with the Stars,' are TV shows that are watched faithfully by literally millions and millions of people. These TV shows as well as a host of other dance related shows have encouraged many more people to get into dancing.

The British government has been very openly encouraging the British to get dancing as part of a campaign to fight obesity. This is down to the fact that dance is a great calorie and fat burning activity. But if you want to take part in dance classes, how much should you expect it to cost?

Well, let's presume you are a beginner looking at taking a lesson each week. Of course the precise cost will vary depending on where you live and the type of dance you want to take part in. There are so many options now, for example, Street Dance, Hip Hop, Bollywood, Belly Dancing and more traditional forms of ballroom dancing. The prices and popularity vary. In the UK, however, you can take part in beginner's lessons from as little as 3 per hour in many towns, or from 5 upwards in larger cities. Of course, the further you advance and the higher the level of tuition you require, the more you can expect to pay and some parents pay literally hundreds per month for their children's advanced classes. However, for beginners in the UK the costs are much lower.

After that, the next consideration is how much dancewear and costumes might cost. This can be more expensive than the actual lessons in some cases. However, beginners will rarely need special dancewear. This type of clothing is more often used by advanced dancers in tournaments and competitions. Beginners will generally only need comfortable footwear, trousers and a t-shirts for their lessons.

Dance for beginners really is not an expensive past time. And if you do progress to a stage where you need to spend more on costumes and lessons, you can compare pricing online to make sure you're getting the best deal!
