subject: The Dyson Dc14 Vacuum - Root Cyclone Technology That Really Sucks (and That's A Good Thing!) [print this page]

We have a monstrous golden retriever named Mo, whom we love, but he leaves hair everywhere. We needed a new vacuum and we'd heard that the Dyson DC14 had Root Cyclone technology which made it ideal for pet owners - so we took the plunge and purchased one for ourselves. This article details our experiences with using the Dyson DC14 Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

Firstly, the ordering process was incredibly easy! We shopped several websites and local stores, and ended up buying through Amazon who had the lowest product price and lowest shipping cost (and that is including the warranty). We received our new vacuum two days earlier than expected... Lowest price and fast shipping! Things were off to a good start.

As to the vacuum itself - the Dyson DC14 is ideal for the homes of pet owners as it incorporates Root Cyclone technology. This ensures effective cleaning without the worry of clogging or suction loss. This is a necessity if you have long-haired cats or dogs. It can be used for all floor types, as it has a motorized brush that can be turned on and off depending on what you want. The filter will take out particles up to o.1 in diameter, while it traps the harmful carbon emissions that come from the motor.

Another helpful aspect of the Dyson DC14 is that it has the telescope reach, allowing the wand to release or expand up to 17-feet at one touch of the button. This is helpful for cleaning stairs and any high-reach cleaning. I love the length of the wand, I hate doing stairs and floor board. I de-furred my daughter's room, base boards, under the bed and all the crannies. The wand made it easy as and fast to do. But I will say that the directions for the wand could be a little more detailed. It took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to get the extension back on command.

Other features are the advanced mini-turbine which will clean pet hair from small spaces like upholstery, the car, or curtains, while the low-reach tool can be attached to the wand to get underneath sofas or beds. The Dyson DC14 also uses nozzles to use directional force to dislodge dust, while keeping it continuous when cleaning curtains or upholstery.

Now that we've had it for a few months - I'd have to say that the Dyson DC14 upright vacuum has given us everything that we'd want in a good vacuum cleaner.
