It can be used for all floor types, as it has a motorized brush that can be turned on and off depending on what you want. The filter will take out particles up to o.1 in diameter, while it traps the harmful carbon emissions that come from the motor.
Another helpful aspect of the Dyson DC14 is that it has the telescope reach, allowing the wand to release or expand up to 17-feet at one touch of the button. This is helpful for cleaning stairs and any high-reach cleaning. I love the length of the wand, I hate doing stairs and floor board. I de-furred my daughter's room, base boards, under the bed and all the crannies. The wand made it easy as and fast to do.
