subject: Should Japan Be Considered As The One Of Western Country? [print this page]

Few days ago, I have seen a section of article Eiffel Tower, New York's Empire State Building, Tokyo TV Tower are western three famous buildings" it amazes me, here the Tokyo TV Tower isnt in Japan, after laughing at the editor's ignorance, then I search the so-called "western theory" on the net.

People often say the three standards of eastern countries: geography position, culture background and political system. Affecting by the cover of cold war and global influence, the confine for eastern countries are gradually blurry currently.

Traditionally in geography and culture Japan belongs to east country, but in its political system Japan still implement western capitalism democracy, its economy system is similar as western countries' model. Japan has always been trying to "go out Asia and go into Europe", and work hard to close to western, now it has been the member of western eight countries.

As a matter of fact, from the economic point of view, Japan belongs to the Western capitalist countries, but it was just an American protectorate.

Western pundits painted a picture of a country gripped by a societal fixation to push and push children, barely out of diapers, to their absolute limit to pass a gauntlet of entrance exams required to secure a seat at the best universities.

For me, I do not particularly like Japan. First, I have a strong feeling that Japan's development depends on numerous people's lives in China. Moreover, the majority of Japanese has a strong sense of superiority as opposed to the others eastern countries at present; they may feel that in Asia, even throughout the Orient, Japan is one of the best.

However, I don't think Japan really belongs to western countries. Its culture is very traditional mode, even like ancient eastern country. Its geography position, culture background cant be changed anytime. Have you ever heard a western person call Japan is a western country? I have only to say Japan has good strategies to develop its economics that can catch up some western countries. It is evident that Japanese economy is superiority to the others Asian countries, but it dont represent that it separate from the Asian countries.

Sum up, everyone has right of choice, not to mention country. Therefore, we need to stand on an all-round degree to look at this question. It is most important that we should draw lessons from process of his development so as that our country become stronger and stronger.
