subject: How To Save A Marriage From Divorce? Put These Tips Into Action Before It's Just Too Late For You [print this page]

There are so many marriages that don't work out only because the two people in it were so busy blaming each other that they couldn't get the time to work things out. If you feel things are rocky in your marriage and you would like to do something then here is what you need to do to save it from a divorce.

Don't put your concerns on the backburner

If it's the incessant fighting that has been bothering you or the lack of intimacy you know you should not ignore these warning signs. We all know that every day in a marriage is not rosy but if the good days are very few then you need to worry. Don't shelve your concerns.

Accept that your marriage is in trouble

You need to accept the fact that your marriage is in trouble and that you need help. It's only then that you will be able to do anything about salvaging it. Accept the problem and then work towards confronting it.

Try talking to your spouse about your concerns

Before you talk to anyone else you must speak to your spouse and see what he/she has to say. If your concerns are just the workings of an overactive imagination then your concerns can be put to rest right there. But if your spouse too has issues then you will both know that you need to get help.

Don't look for external validation

The moment you sense the danger lurking ahead don't go crying to your friends in search of external validation. Your friends will never gauge the extent of the problem you are in and will always tell you what you want to hear instead of what you need to hear.

Find a good marriage counselor

Instead of taking your friend's advice look for a good marriage counselor who will be able to tell you how to deal with your current situation and will help you find a solution to your problem.

Separate the cause from the problem

You will be asked to separate the cause from the problem that you have. Be honest and do so. For example if you are having communication problems then it could be because you have some other unresolved issues. Be open about those and do not be resentful if you have to hear negative things about yourself.

Work hard to get a resolution

Follow the guidelines offered by your counselor and work hard to resolve the situation that you are in. Remember that everything can be worked out and the difficulty is only temporary.
