Nokia has targeted the Asian market through the Nokia 5230, a phone that is affordable yet stylish and feature packed. An entry level phone it competes with models like Samsung Corby and LG cookie. It weighs 115 gm and has dimension of 111 x 51.7 x 14.5mm.The display of this phone is a 3.2 inch LCD screen with 16 million colors and 360 x 640 resolution. This phone supports Symbian 9.4 S60 OS fifth edition.

Some of the interesting features about its user interface are accelerometer, kinetic scrolling and also proximity sensor. A shortcut media key is also assigned which gives quick access to all media present in the phone. Talking about its processing it has a 434 MHz CPU and 128 MB RAM which makes it a phone with fast processing speed.

Nokia 5230 is a touch screen phone with these three buttons on the front panel: call key, menu key, call end key. It has three buttons on its right side also which blend in with the phone body. These are control key, keypad lock and camera shutter press. The phone has automatic shift between portrait and landscape mode. When in landscape mode, the virtual keypad becomes QWERTY type.

With an internal memory of 70 MB and support for micro SD card of up to 16GB the Nokia 5230 has considerable space for media content. The 2MP fixed focus of the camera has good image quality. However, it lacks a flash. The video recording is at the rate of 30fps.

The phone has a 3.5mm Jack and a FM radio tuner. The Bluetooth is version 2.0 with A2DP support and EDR. 3G, GPRS, EDGE, micro USB and GPS connectivity is available. Though the phone lacks Wi-Fi connectivity, the price tag leaves the customer satisfied. The Nokia 5230 is well worth its price tag.
