Dr. Guard is a somewhat unique rogue program in terms of how it operates. It initially comes onto your computer like many other programs, working its way in via fake Trojan alerts that could pop up on your desktop. By clicking on these, you may install the program onto your computer. Dr. Guard may also accompany a TDL3 or TDSS rootkit, which makes it harder to remove from your computer. If you find out that is the issue, you will need to go through additional uninstall procedures to fully remove the malware. The major problem with Dr. Guard is that it tries to uninstall other security systems on your computer that are actually providing a form of protection. Some of the programs it may opt to get rid of are Avira AntiVir, AVG8, avast!, Malwarebytes, NOD32, Norton Internet Security, and F-Secure. The program does this as a way to protect itself from being removed. Once it can exist on your computer, it will run scans for threats, turning up with an array of fake results. It will not allow you to get rid of those programs though unless you buy the full version. Obviously you do not need to do this. Dr. Guard mimics a lot of common Windows security systems for a computer. It will have a list of different security options you have, and it will say that you have no virus protection. That may make you wish to buy the product, but again, you should not do that. Among the threats that the scan will list, you may find something that says: Network intrusion detected! Your computer is being attacked from a remote PC. Attack from {random IP address} Process is trying to steal your passwords listed below. It is highly recommended to block this threat now. If you go in manually, you will have to delete aspects of your registry, and if you don't know what you're doing, you could really mess up your computer. Rather than taking that risk, it may just be easier to install a program that does all of the cleaning for you. Do not wait for your system to be further compromised, Remove Dr. Guard Now!
