Continuing the trend, the German luxury car maker BMW has started rolling out its all new 5-Series sedans from its plant in Chennai. The Mercedes cars rolled out of this Indian plant are expected to cost around Rs 38.9 lakh and Rs 58 lakh (ex-showroom). BMW has sold over 3,700 units of the 5-Series sedans in India since 2007.
The 5-series sedans by BMW were unveiled in both petrol and diesel versions this April and finally the company has started rolling them out locally. The BMW 5 Series is the core product in our model range and has significantly contributed to the image and success of BMW in
India. We are confident that the new BMW 5 Series produced in Chennai will further increase our momentum in the Indian luxury car segment, BMW Plant Managing Director Juergen Eder said in a statement released by the company to the media.
The deliveries of the all new Indian made 5-series sedans are scheduled to begin by end of this month as mentioned in the statement. The Chennai plant would assemble the 523i, 530d and 525d that would be imported as completely-knocked-down units while the 535i will be imported as a completely-built-unit.
The 5-series sedans make up for over 50 per cent of BMW's total global sales. BMW is considered a style statement and is appreciated for its design, flawless workmanship and driver orientation. The gadgets and instruments in a BMW are placed to give the passengers and driver great luxury and a comfortable and stylish ride.
The BMW 5 Series stands for class and is loved world over for its aesthetics, dynamics and efficiency. BMW has close competition from rival brand Mercedes Benz and even Audi India is gearing up to sell close to 2700 this year.
