subject: Overcome Your Fitness Obstacles For A Higher Quality Of Life [print this page]

Most people know they need to be more active, if not for the sake of physical appearance then so that they can feel better and hopefully live longer. But unfortunately many of us fall prey to the mental obstacles that can prevent us from getting the proper exercise we need so our body stays healthy and fends off disease.

The first obstacle that many people encounter is thinking of exercise as 'an option', 'a luxury' or something to be done if time is left over. Devoting a small amount of time (30-40 minutes) two to three times each week is a must if you wish to remain healthy.

It is easy to think "If I don't workout nobody will notice" and that maybe true - for a while. It does take time for not doing enough proper exercise to take its toll of our bodies. But it will......change in body composition (muscle/fat ratio) as muscle tissue is lost and fat weight is gained mean increased health risks. Couple that with the negative affect on appearance, energy levels, vitality, mental and emotional health and a health time bomb with its fuse lit is set ticking.

A downward spiral of declining health follows right down at cellular level with all of the bodies systems becoming weaker. This does not happen quickly but every year that passes the damage accumulates until it overwhelms the body and disease sets in.

At best this all leads to a lower quality of life and at worst a lessened quantity of life.

This eventual loss of health is preventable and all it takes to keep the body strong and healthy is two things - proper exercise and quality nutrition.

Just these two things can make a huge difference. A strength training program to keep the muscular system strong is the first most important thing you can do. Your muscle tissue is the engine of your body and its health affects everything else. Just a couple of sessions each week with some effort put in will do the trick.

The other most important thing you can do to help stay healthy is to get rid of as much processed food as you can from your diet and your life. Pretty boxes of 'so called' food with little to zero nutrition have no place in a higher quality of health and wellness.

Spend a little extra and purchase natural whole foods and cook them from scratch and avoid the processing and chemicals that our bodies have no idea what to do with.

Many of us wish we knew the secret of looking great, feeling young and vital, and living a long disease free life. But in fact, the only secret is what you already know deep inside but perhaps you have forgotten - proper exercise and better nutrition and it is not too much trouble and too much work.

The more you do it the easier it gets, swapping out not so good food and time spent sitting or inactive for better food choices and proper exercise. Simple really and being too busy or too lazy is not going to cut it. It is really not-negotiable.
