subject: Single Mother Scholarships [print this page]

I'm a mom of a rambunctious 2 year old and I'm also going back to college to get a degree in Elementary Ed. I could not have done it without grants and other kinds of aid. That's why I wanted to share with all of you a few of the single mother scholarships I've discovered.

Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation offers scholarships to low income women to help make their scholastic dreams a possibility. It was established to honor Congresswoman Patsy Mink whose legislative work was focused around making education affordable for all.

The WISP change your world scholarship empowers women who are capable, have motivation and willing to work hard to have the opportunity to get a college degree.

The R.O.S.E. scholarship helps women who have been the victims of domestic violence break the cycle by giving them the resources to go back to school and become independent.

The Jeanette Rankin Foundation has helped 500 women ages 35 or older get back into to school.

Raise the Nation offers both scholarships and loan programs for women wanting to go back to school.

Finally, don't overlook state programs for single moms. For example, the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund has single mother scholarships for residents of Arkansas. In Wyoming, the program is called CLIMB which helps mothers earn a degree or credential which will raise their earning potential. In Oregon, the program is called the Ford Opportunity program.

I wouldn't be where I am today without single mother scholarships, so I wanted to help you along the way too.
