subject: Initial Steps To Combat Depression [print this page]

Sometimes the symptoms of depression are difficult to detect. There are some signs that could just be triggered by casual situations then after some days the supposedly symptoms would just go away. Even medical doctors cant immediately say that someone is depressed at a glance. Because of peoples complexities and varying reactions to lifes challenges and problems, they need to conduct series of tests and questionnaires to certainly affirm that one is experiencing depression.

If youre experiencing three or more of these symptoms, there could be a huge chance that youre depressed. But if you want to be more certain about it, taking a self-diagnosis program is also beneficial. You can either do this by yourself or if you can find a trusted friend or family member to assist you. Your initial steps could include, writing on a journal, meditation, and going on a spiritual retreat.

* Writing on a journal

It has been an old advice: scribbling all your emotions on a notebook is one of the best and effective ways to unleash your stress. This could be true as some people can attest to it. It doesnt only relieve your raging temper but it also diverts your attention from doing something harsh, impulsive, and stupid.

* Meditation

This is holistic discipline that helps a person to go beyond his or her reflexive mind and plunge into a deeper state of relaxation and awareness. Through this process, the subject is pacified of all external factors like worries, frustrations, problems, and even material attachments.

* Going on a Spiritual Retreat

For a true blue traveler, wandering to various places could cure the loneliness of the soul. But we dont need to be an adventure aficionado to appreciate the wonders of traveling in our lives. In times when were down and struggling, sometimes we just need to see and experience new and different places so we can rethink and reassess our ongoing dilemmas.
