subject: Cash For Crash Worsening For Road Users [print this page]

As if us motorists don't have enough to deal with on the roads, the craze for cash for crash criminals is again on the up this month. Traditionally, car criminals have stuck to car theft and number plate cloning, but 2010 has seen the alarming rise of the cash for crash phenomenon. The insurance fraud bureau estimate that over thirty thousand accidents are staged by criminals each year, with each thief claiming around seventeen thousand pounds as a result, which is impacting greatly on innocent drivers trying to obtain car insurance quotes. The criminal usually brakes suddenly on a clear road or roundabout, causing the person behind to plough into them. This way, they can claim on the insurance, for personal injury, car damage and car recovery fees. The police have reported that a large amount of people targeted are old aged pensioners or young mums by themselves, to minimise the amount of hassle they will get. They also target the drivers of commercial vehicles, as they guess that these drivers will care less if their insurance is being claimed on. The racket was more commonly seen in the northern parts of England, but new findings have been published this week deeming London to now feature twice in the top ten of cash for crash sites, with Birmingham taking the top position. Results from insurance companies have shown that this trend is pushing our Car Insurance Quotes up by an average of forty four pounds, money that in the current economical climate, we don't have to spend.
