subject: Baby Shower Game: How Big Is Mommy? [print this page] There are many baby shower games that are quick, easy end entertaining for the guests and the mother-to-be. While some games involve a pencil and paper, others simply require some string, a good eye and a good sense of humor. The How Big is Mommy Game is one of those games that doesn't need a ton of planning, nor a lot of extra resources. Just grab a roll or two of toilet paper and a piece of ribbon and use the two to figure out how big mommy's belly is.
There are two ways you can play this game. It is always best to speak with the expecting mommy before playing this game to see which method is most comfortable for her.
How Big is Mommy: Version 1
Take a piece or ribbon or string and measure around the baby belly. Snip the string and set it aside. Actual measurement doesn't matter for this. When beginning the game, ask each guest to look at mom's belly and estimate how many squares of toilet paper it will take to go all the way around. Then, once each guest has made their guess, start with the person who guessed the most and unroll that amount o toilet paper and measure it up to the pre-cut ribbon. If the toilet paper strip is the same size, that person wins. If it is too short each guest must make a new estimate. If it is too long, you go down the list of estimates until you find the closest match. The guest with the closest guess wins. The benefit of this version is that no one will ever have to know what size the belly actually is if the mom is uncomfortable with this knowledge being shared.
How Big is Mommy: Version 2
Provide rolls of toilet paper through out the party room. Ask each guest to take the amount of tissue that they think it will take to wrap around mommy"s belly. Then, each guest gets their opportunity to measure their guess buy wrapping it around her belly. The winner is the guest who gets the closest. This version, as well as version 1 above can also be done with yarn. Just have the guests make their guess in inches instead of squares. This game is fun, all ages of guests can participate and it is easy to prepare.
