subject: Bars And Nightclubs 101 Why Not To Mess With Bouncers [print this page]

Time and time again you see it happening in bars and nightclubs everywhere. Its getting a little late in the night, perhaps 2am, and a group of guys at the door making are attempting to convince the bouncers at the door they arent drunk even though its 2am, and its unlikely they spent the last 6 hours drinking orange juice and lemonade.

So what starts off as a bit of jawing back and forth turns into an all out melee resulting in a few black eyes and in all likely hood the police being called in and a few drunks spending the night in lockup. Sounds like a bad end to the night? Well thats if youre lucky.

To all those new bar and nightclub enthusiasts, who have perhaps seen this happening and considered whether or not in the same situation you might do the same, here is a few reasons why not to fuck with bouncers at bars and nightclubs.

They Are Big and You are Drunk

A blood alcohol level over 0.08 impairs reaction times, motor skills and balance. All the things you need when trying to fight someone.

Many bouncers use steroids, which make them bigger, stronger and angry, all the things you need if you want to win a fight.

There may only be 2 bouncers at the door, but there are plenty inside so if you think youve outnumbered them you havent.

Unfortunately, a lot of bar and nightclub enthusiasts forget this. If you are the type of person that likes to fight bouncers when you get barred from a bar or nightclubs remember this.

Bouncers Go Clubbing Too

Heaps of bar and nightclub enthusiasts think that mouthing off at a bouncer is kinda safe as they are at work. This might be true, but keep in mind that dealing with pissheads like you is stressful, and as a result, they need a drink every now and then. So bare this in mind you piss enough bouncers off, youre bound to run into one on a day off at which point you best be ready to apologise.

Not Every Room In The Club Has A Camera

Everyone has heard stories of the bar and nightclub enthusiast that just messed with the wrong bouncer and ended up out the back. This does happen (albeit rarely) particularly at bars and nightclubs that particularly dont want police round as a result of a scene out the front. If youre i Sydneys Kings Cross or Oxford Street or South Melbourne keep your mouth shut.
