subject: Mariah Carey Tickets - There Is A New Angel In Town [print this page]

It has been a while since Mariah Carey has strut her stuff on stage, but now the angels are singing in unison as her latest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, sees some tour dates. Following movie premieres for Precious and a whirlwind relationship with now husband Nick Cannon, Carey has set eight weeks of her schedule for a 19-city tour deemed Angels Advocate that begins with New Year's Eve at New York's Madison Square Garden.

If you loved hits from E=MC2 or the newer ones from Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, go online for Mariah Carey tickets today; the jaunt sets off early January in Atlantic City and runs through Mashantucket, Atlanta, Hollywood, Detroit, Washington, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, Columbus, Dallas, Phoenix, Oakland, Las Vegas and others until late February. One of the opening acts includes RydazNrtist, an R&B group that is signed to Carey's husband NCredible Entertainment.

Though she hasn't toured in years, Mariah Carey still knows a thing or two about success. Her Emancipation of Mimi hit "We Belong Together" was recently named the top Hot 100 Song of the Decade and second R&B Hip-Hop Song of the Decade by Billboard, while readers voted the same single to the fifth spot on Rolling Stone's Top Singles of the Decade. Rolling Stone deemed the decade favorite "always on point; on this CD, she is poignant, romantic and hilarious - sometimes, all in one song." The tune appeared in the April 2005 release of Mimi, which was a departure from her typical sensual pop and instead reenacted a hip-thrusting Beyonce sound.

Though she hasn't toured in support of an album since that decade favorite, Mariah Carey has remained a prominent figure in the media thanks to her public relationship with husband Nick Cannon and her outlandish outfits. Carey rose to stardom in the '90s after moving to New York City from Long Island at 17. A songwriter at heart, she started singing backup to Brenda K. Starr before signing to Columbia Records after handing out her demo to Tommy Mottola. The eponymous debut was released in 1990 and hit the airwaves strong with hits like "Vision of Love," "Love Takes Time," "Someday" and "I Don't Wanna Cry." A year later Emotions appeared with the title track debuting at No. 1, followed by MTV Unplugged.

After marrying Mottola, she released Music Box, another poppy R&B set that hit the top of the charts with "Dreamlover" and "Hero." The holiday Merry Christmas appeared just before 1995's Daydream, featuring "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day." After her divorce, Bufferfly helped to make her a superstar as she swiftly followed up with #1's, 13 of her chart toppers along with a duet with Whitney Houston, "The Prince of Egypt." In 1999 Rainbow was another chart topping album that opened with "Heartbreaker."

That was where the majority of her consecutive hit success ended; when the short-lived $80 million deal with Virgin ended, she had a stream of unsuccessful media appearances and film (Glitter), that saw her developing her own MonarC Music label with Island/ Def Jam. Subsequently, Charmbracelet was her first real failure.

The return was 2005's The Emancipation of Mimi, giving Carey three Grammy Awards including Best Contemporary R&B Vocal Performance "We Belong Together." Next came E=MC2, which wasn't promoted via tour because of her marriage to Cannon, but the latest album and single "I Want to Know What Love is" helped her stay high on current charts.
