subject: Exercising for your health [print this page] When it comes to staying fit and healthy, many people neglect their health. There is nothing more important than being mindful of what kinds of food you are putting into your body.
With the growing obesity epidemic in the United States, it is becoming more important than ever to not only watch what we eat but to also make sure that we are getting the proper amount of exercise necessary for sustaining our current and future physiques. But there are other external factors that are factoring into why we are struggling with our weight. For instance, the lack of jobs has led many to becoming depressed. Depression triggers a response in our bodies whereby we produce more of a chemical imbalance that causes us to seek out certain foods in order to satisfy a craving.
Besides this, there are also those of us who are fully employed and who because of our job hours make poor food choices. Especially if you have children, it can be difficult to come home from a long day of work only to then have to worry about fixing something for yourself to eat as well as begin to think about an exercise routine. Before we develop bad habits, it is important to employ good ones to help us stay on track. For instance, if you know that your job dictates long hours at the office, find out if there is a gym near to your office place. Perhaps your boss would be willing to allow you and other colleagues to work out during your lunch break for a half hour or so. Pack your gym bag at the end of each night and keep it in your car, this way you won't have an excuse not to go to the gym after work. If you can, try to get your workout done first thing in the morning if you know that you are a busy person. Doing so will avoid any remorse later in the evening should something come up and you are all of a sudden no longer able to make your gym date. When food shopping, set aside time once a week to get the majority of your shopping done. Additionally, if you can, set aside a half hour or so to sit down and plan out what meals you are going to eat during the week. Planning out your meals forces you to think more consciously about the food that you are putting into your body and may also lead you to make wiser food choices at the store.
