subject: The Seven Chakras; How They Directly Affect Your Life [print this page]

You may not physically see your Chakras but you feel their energy - every day! They are not something outside of or apart from you, they ARE you!

Chakra is the widely accepted ancient term that we still use today and at its simplest level it describes the motion of the energy at certain points around the body, more specifically where two or more energy streams meet.

The Ancient Seers, Psychics and Healers contemplated these centers of energy, regarded the motion as being like that of a turning wheel and so named it as such! Chakra at a very basic level simply means spinning disc or turning wheel. Although there is some variation in their positioning as a rule of thumb we tend to work with Seven Chakras but there are a lot of more.

The Major Seven Chakras are found at specific points along the spine. Imagine the body, standing upright, the Base Chakra sits right at the base of the spine. Next is the Sacral Chakra, which is in the region below the navel and above it rests the Solar Plexus Chakra.

Then we come to the Heart Chakra, which is located as the name suggests around the heart. The Throat Chakra is next and then we move on to the chakras of the head.

The majority of people are aware of the next Chakra or at least of the name of it; the Third Eye. This is located in the region of middle of the forehead. Finally we come to the Crown Chakra which resides at the top of the head.

The Chakras do not simply face forwards, they influence infront and behind as well as around the area they are located. For example the Throat Chakra not only affects the throat itself but also it directly relates to the neck as well.

In reality they are 3 dimensional spheres. Imagine them to be like miniature suns, having tiny rays of energy branching out. The rays of the sun extend out all the way around it, and it is exactly the same with your Chakras.

In fact the Chakras do much more, for they don't just radiate out energy, they also absorb it in as well.

Even if you cannot see them yourself, or feel them much right now, you can become much more sensitive to them. I definitely believe it is a great advantage being aware of your Chakras and your energy, particularly when you understand that they link with so much more than just your physical body. They are linked so strongly with your emotions and mental functioning. I haven't even begun to mention the connections to your soul, your spirit, the real inner you!

Just because the word comes from Ancient times, it certainly doesn't mean it has no relevance to you and I today. In the relatively recent past it has been discovered that each of the main seven Chakras ' just happens' to reside at a part of the body with a major nerve plexus and they can also be matched with specific endocrine glands.

Without getting too technical your endocrine glands are responsible for secreting your hormones directly into your bloodstream. The hormones are often called 'chemical messengers' and are vitally important to your every day functioning and growth.

Every one of the seven Chakras has its' own color associated with it. This is not a random color, it is significant because each color has its own frequency and resonance, as does each Chakra.

After all, energy, whether it comes in pulses or waves is all about vibration, resonance and frequency. The Chakra Colors are;

The Base Chakra is Red The Sacral Chakra is Orange The Solar Plexus Chakra is Yellow The Heart Chakra is Green The Throat Chakra is blue The Third Eye Chakra is Indigo The Crown Chakra is Violet.

Every one of the Chakras has its' own connections with your health and psychological wellbeing, even to your character traits and personality types. They're holding on to a whole host of information right now, you probably have no conscious awareness of!
