subject: Gain Some Green Points And Use Public Transport To Get To Stansted Airport [print this page]

Stansted airport has more scheduled European destinations than any other airport in the world. It's a hugely popular airport, but it's much less convenient to get to than others, such as Gatwick or Heathrow.

Travelling is a stressful experience, but there's no reason why you should start your trip feeling frazzled.

49% of passengers flying from Stansted get there by public transport. That's one of the highest rates in Europe! In fact, a quarter of people get to the airport by rail and 20.1% arrive by bus or coach.

It's these figures that have encouraged many transport providers to include Stansted airport in their routes. Some bus companies can travel between central London and Stansted airport up to every 20 minutes, with tickets starting at 2.

In fact, if you wanted to park Monday morning till Sunday morning at Stansted, it would cost you at least 28 to do so. Factoring in the cost of petrol, and the worry of getting lost or caught in traffic, and driving to Stansted doesn't seem like the most cost-effective option.

Public transport will at least let you relax whilst you're travelling to the airport. If your flight is early then you can even sleep on the bus. That's certain preferable to waking in the middle of the night to drive miles, when you could be snoozing safely.

Flying contributes to 5% of all green house gas emissions across the world. Travelling by public transport will go some way to trying to offset the pollution that your flight will cause. It's a way of keeping the cost of travel down whilst proving your green credentials too.
