subject: The Amazing Iphone 4 Finally Arrives [print this page]

After what seemed a lengthy wait, the iPhone 4 has finally arrived to the delight of mobile phone fans. And first impressions of this model is that it is more than an Apple marketing tool, this is indeed perhaps the best mobile phone available with a stunning design and jaw dropping array of features.

Owners of one of the existing iPhones will immediately notice two things about this latest offering. Firstly it is the first time that the actual look of the phone has been changed since the original iPhone was released. And secondly the handset manages to maintain screen size but in an all together more compact design. The curved back that we have come to know and love has now gone, replaced by a flat glass panel. Not only making the unit look more high end, this has actually reduced the depth of the unit to 9.3mm which is 24 per cent less than the iPhone 3GS. The attractive looking metallic band which surrounds the handset is not only there for cosmetic reasons, but it is actually a host of antennas, giving great bluetooth, WiFi and network connectivity and also aiding the reduction in the overall depth. In addition to this, the glass panel, which is also used on the front of the handsets is incredibly durable thanks to a special chemical treatment it undergoes. Not only rendering the glass as strong, perhaps more importantly it helps the material maintain a fairly scratch resistant quality, great news for anybody who has their phone knocking around in a pocket or bag with all manner of other bits and pieces.

The iPhone 4 seems to have the most wow factor when it is playing back video. Thanks to the great resolution display High Definition playback can be achieved. When held on its side, the built in accelerometer chip allows for brilliant widescreen images which are rich in colour and amazingly sharp. The video recording facility also enables high definition filming. With such high quality features available on a phone, it must be a worry to manufacturers of separate recording devices. Thanks to the 720p resolution recording, video looks great on a large screen at home as well as on the handsets own Retina display. The iMovie app, a new addition to the ever impressive Apple App Store also enables users to create simple but professional looking edits, adding a bit of fun to the process. Still shots have improved to, with not only the pixel rating jumping up 2 million to 5 mega pixels, but an improved sensor makes these pixels more absorbent, ultimately meaning a more colourful and precise picture. This is a wise move from Apple by stepping aside in the race to see who can achieve the most pixels to concentrate on actually improving the quality of the image. The camera looks better than any other available.

The iPhone 4 seems destined to be on the wishlist of mobile phone fans everywhere and it is easy to see why, from the gorgeous looks to the great features, this phone looks set to be huge.
