subject: Parcel Delivery -a Fragile Situation [print this page]

No one likes receiving a parcel that is marked fragile and rattles when you take it out of the arms of a courier or when you move it to open it. These parcels will be opened with a certain degree of trepidation by the recipient, especially if that person knows that whats inside is a one off or a something of sentimental value. Were a society that bases first impressions the clothes that people wear, their jewellery, watch or shoes or the kind of car they drive or house they live in and this emphasis on material things means we experience unhealthy attachments to material things.

There are two very simple ways to make sure that whatever fragile item you wish to send does not end up as a rattling parcel and a distraught face. The first is to choose a courier service that you know and trust, it might sound simple but its very easy to simply go on price these days and while some of the big boys will give you a great deal for the service they offer, where theres competition and money to be made there will also be people that will take you for a ride.

The second way to make sure your item isnt smashed to smithereens is to package it correctly. Again, this might seem obvious but wrapping the object in a thin layer of bubble wrap and placing it inside a cardboard box just wont cut it. Modern day society dictates that theres a solution for absolutely everything and protecting your fragile item is no different, you can buy anything from standard bubble wrap and jiffy bags to inflatable packaging, polystyrene pieces and cardboard boxes in every size imaginable. Packaging supplies are cheap and reusable so theres no reason to skimp on protection, for the price of a cup of tea and a slice of cake in your local caf you can make sure it gets there in one piece.

The internet offers a wealth of information on every subject you can think of and packing breakable items for posting is no exception. Get online for tips on the best materials, the most appropriate method and reviews on the most reliable and careful couriers. The last of these is almost the most important because the last thing you want is a good for nothing delivery driver who couldnt care less whether your parcel arrives safely or not and if you add inadequate packing to the mix youll almost certainly be disappointed with the result. With the plethora of great parcel delivery companies out there these days theres really no reason why you shouldnt send your finest bone china if thats what you want to do.
