If you think this is likely to be the case, or just want to be extra careful, you can use an additive to reduce the possibility of slipping. You apply it by scattering over the first coat while it is still wet. Once it has dried, you then cover the area with another coat of paint.
When painting your walls and ceilings first remove any flaking materials from the surfaces. It is good practice to use only high quality emulsion, especially when covering unplastered areas such as brickwork. And before beginning the work, make sure you have all those accessories brushes, rollers and trays - to hand as you begin transforming your outbuildings.
