In an unexpected turn of events, Walt Disney World is to be twinned with Swindon, Wiltshire, the Guardian reported on Monday December 7th
Rebecca Warren aged twenty of Swindon sent in a video entry for a Disney competition to twin your home town with Walt Disney World and won against competition from other Uk towns including Aberdeen, Cambridge and Blackpool. Rebecca Will be flying to Orlando Florida with her nephew and neice in order to unveil a plaque to commerorate the event. In 2010 the Epcot Centre will also be holding a Swindon based exhibition and Swindon will be hosting celebrations in the form of a twinning ceremony in January 2010.
England has long been the holiday destination of choice for Mickey and some of the top Disney celebrities and if you watch out you can sometimes see them out around Coventry town centre sporting Burberry caps and Reebok classic trainers, and listening to happy house by their musician friends Alvin and the Chipmunks on their Ipods.
Only slightly less improbable would have been if a competition had been held to twin your theme park with Swindon and Goofy had entered and won.
