subject: Network Marketing - Developing Entrepreneurs in your Team [print this page] There are typically 3 types of people who will join a Network Marketing Team. Followers, Leaders and Entrepreneurs
This article focuses on Building Entrepreneurs in your Team. Entrepreneurs tend to take Leadership responsibilities from the beginning. They identify marketing opportunities and exploit them by organising their time and resources effectively to accomplish their desired outcome.
Entrepreneurs can be a solid asset to your Business. They will come to you with many ideas as to how they will build their business. Entrepreneurs are ideas people and are constantly thinking of new ways to build on and expand a market as well as tapping into new markets.
A Network Marketing Team needs Entrepreneurs to introduce new ideas. They can also rehash old ideas into new and novel ways of doing business. Niccolo Machiavelli said, "Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage"
Network Marketing businesses probably exist because of an idea expressed and put forth by an Entrepreneur.
Despite all the positives of having Entrepreneurs in your team there are a couple of situations where Entrepreneurs will need your assistance.
All Huff and no Puff
There is a difference between an idea's person and an Entrepreneur. While Entrepreneurs do have good ideas. An "ideas person" often has many ideas that would work if put into practice. Unfortunately a new idea tends to surface before the first idea is put to work. This unfortunately leads to a constant flow of ideas and thoughts and very little action. Be careful not to get your ideas people mixed up with your Entrepreneurs.
Staying Grounded.
Sometimes we need to slow down and smell the roses, even Network Marketing Leaders need a break. Entrepreneurs have a habit of continuously moving forward without reflecting on achievements. You don't want to become the boss of someone else's business, but sometimes a gentle tap on the back and invite to a family gathering (or phone chat for international reps) can help.
Forgetting to Follow
It has been said that the Best Leaders are the best followers. Entrepreneurs have a tendency to be Leaders but often forget to follow. Leaders who don't follow often portray themselves as the Boss of their team as opposed to a Mentor or Leader. All representatives of a Network Marketing Team are Independent Business Owners. We can not be the Boss to them but we can give recommendations and guidance. It's up to them to follow your ideas or go their own way.
