Lopid is an antihyperlipidemic agent. It works by lowering the blood levels of triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) ("bad") cholesterol by reducing their production by the liver. It also increases blood levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) ("good") cholesterol.

How to use Lopid:
Use Lopid as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
* Take Lopid by mouth twice a day 30 minutes before morning and evening meals, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
* Lopid is most effective when used with a diet that reduces the intake of cholesterol and saturated fats, and an exercise program.
* If you miss a dose of Lopid , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

* Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); diarrhea; muscle pain; nausea; persistent or severe stomach pain; tenderness; vomiting; weakness.
