subject: To Get Knowledge Of Basics Marine Engineering [print this page]

At the end of Marine Engineering course all students are projected to get acquaintance about energy sources, they have studied the renewable and Non-Renewable Energy Sources, Have a good knowledge of working principle of 2 Stroke and 4 Stroke Marine IC Engines, Have sound knowledge of Marine Refrigeration and Air- Conditioning Plant.

Renewable & non renewable resources embrace thermal, hydel, solar, wind, tidal, geothermal and nuclear in Indian energy scenario. Power plants having steam, gas turbine, diesel, nuclear & hydel power plants, steam generators include Classification, working or Cochran, Babcock Wilcox, Lamont and Benson boilers, Principles and features of modern high pressure boiler & also include type of boiler tower. Fundamentally there are two types of towers are there, first one is vertical tower & second one is horizontal tower.

Marine IC engine 12 having an additional classification & includes two types of engines & illustrate as petrol marine engine & diesel marine engine. Also such kind of engine having different stroke cycles like four stroke cycle & two stroke cycle, all marine engines have different Carburetion methods like single jet carburetor & in such type of carburetor basically mixture strength is used & only this carburetor is used in petrol engine in diesel engine some another way is used at the place of carburetor & in all diesel engine fuel pump & fuel injector is used.

All engines have their own cooling system & also engines are using different ""different cooling system, generally Air cooling system & liquid cooling system used in such type of heavy engines & there is a another optimum cooling system available in engines. After classification, fuel used & cooling system only one more thing is there & i.e. lubricants which is used in engines.

Now what is the role of cooling system in marine engine & described as a cooling system is an internal combustion engine that is used to maintain the various engine components at normal temperatures conducive to long life of engine & necessary for proper functionality of engine.

Without cooling system no any engine designed because in such type of engines a lot of heat is generated & may be they are having temperature 45000 F or may be more then this & this temperature is enough to melt any part of engine so for prevent such type of losses all engines having a cooling system. In most of the engines recycling of water, gas, air or liquid is used in cooling system. Some big & costly engines are having cold or hot insulation for making minimum losses in parts by heating.
