subject: Bloated Belly: Not Just An Aesthetic Problem [print this page] Why is it that we are so wrapped up in being aesthetically attractive that we tend to misjudge people who may or may not look like the 'normal' way people should look like, especially those who do not seem to fit the standard of aesthetic beauty: i.e. obesity, bloated belly, plus size and petit sizes?
Modern society has much to demand on how we should and should not look like. Little does modern man get to know that there are some physical traits that are ruled by genetics or simply ruled by a pathological problem. Those with a bloated belly are victimized as much as the rest who do not conform to the norm. Is it so hard to understand that having a bloated tummy is not something which people want to have, that they in turn are having a difficult time getting rid of this belly that seems to make them one step ahead of the others when in fact they are one step behind?
One sure and practical cause of a bloated belly is constipation. Everyone and anyone can understand how this feels and it can make the abdominal area look bloated. The only way for relief is through laxatives or a diet which is rich in fiber and taken with lots of water.
In infants, a bloated belly can be alarming, especially if the infant is crying incessantly. This may be accompanied with regurgitation as well as spitting out. Sometimes mothers simply ask the doctors what does heartburn feel like for the infant that it can make them get so agitated and uncomfortable. The symptoms may be relieved with a change of milk formula.
Obesity may be the only fault identified when looking at a large stomach on someone but there are also some pathological concerns which may lead to that obesity and the large belly.
In obstetrics, a bloated belly may or may not mean a pregnancy. There are cases where women fool themselves into believing an inexistent pregnancy and they subconsciously manipulate their bodies to look like a pregnancy is actually being undergone. They receive a backlash when the truth is uncovered.
Whatever the case may be, a distended abdomen is a sure sign that there is some sort of dysfunction occurring and it is up to the patient and the doctor to try to investigate on the cause. Once the trigger is identified, and once treatment is done, it is justifiable to think that the bloated belly will eventually shrink and with exercise, disappear completely.
