subject: Gampel Pavilion Tickets - Fun In Connecticut [print this page]

For residences and visitors of Connecticut, there is hardly a lack of entertainment choices to pick from. Late in January, the entertainment heats up in and around Hartford, Conn., and no one will be surprised that one of the major attractions this time of year is the University of Connecticut Huskies Men's Basketball team.

Most of the Huskies' home games are played at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion. The Pavilion has been open since 1990 and is part of the UConn Sports Center Complex. This site hosts many amazing events, making Gampel Pavilion tickets hot sellers. Tickets are available online.

One matchup any true basketball fan won't want to miss is when the Huskies take on the Texas Longhorns on Jan. 23 at the Gampel Pavilion. Whenever two ranked teams meet, it is a game sure to be full of fireworks. Early in the season, Texas was ranked much higher than Connecticut, although both are considered incredibly competitive in the NCAA. Texas started the season undefeated and has been continuing the hot streak ever since. The Huskies had a similar success early in the season, so this matchup is anyone's game.

Both teams also have stars who have been leading their respective teams to victory. The Huskies have much to brag about with stars like Jerome Dyson, Stanley Robinson, Kemba Walker, Gavin Edwards and Alex Oriakhi. The Longhorns have stars of their own like Damion James, Dexter Pittman, J'Covan Brown, Avery Bradley and Jordan Hamilton. All of the stars will have to come out swinging on Jan. 23, and fans will want to be there to catch all the action live.

Of course, it isn't just the men who know how to put on a top basketball show in Connecticut. In fact, the Lady Huskies basketball team started the season even better than their male counterparts, stealing the top ranking with an impressive undefeated run. The Huskies have stars like Maya Moore, Tina Charles, Kalana Green, Tiffany Hayes and Caroline Doty leading the charge. On Jan. 26, the team will be taking on Rutgers, which has a few stars of their own. The Huskies will have to focus on containing stars like Brittany Ray, April Sykes, Rashidat Junaid and Chelsey Lee. This game at the XL Center is sure to continue in the Connecticut tradition of top basketball.

Of course, some people aren't going to be in the mood for basketball. One of the best events to check out this January is when Rain comes to the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut on Jan. 30. Rain is a celebrated Beatles tribute act, and these performers really know how to deliver a Fab Four worthy show. The story of Rain goes back nearly as far as the Beatles themselves, as the first incarnation happened in the mid-1970s. Their original name was "Reign," but they later changed to their current moniker. The band's lineup has shifted since the beginning, but their commitment to the legacy of the Beatles remains the same. No wonder they have been praised by critics around the country!
