subject: Tegan And Sara Tickets - Tegan And Sara Tapped For Lilith Fair Again [print this page] Lilith Fair is back after a decade-long hiatus, and Tegan and Sara, the sisterly duo that played at one of the female-powered festival's smallest stages in Edmonton, Alberta some 10 years ago, are coming back with it! The 2010 Lilith Fair lineup also features founder Sarah McLachlan, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Colbie Caillat, Mary J. Blige, Miranda Lambert, Brandi Carlile, Ingrid Michaelson, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Metris, A Fine Frenzy, Corinne Bailey Rae and many more. McLachlan and Badu were on the original lineup along with the Indigo Girls, Tegan and Sara and Emmylou Harris (who will all be turning up in 2010).
Terry McBride, co-founder of Lilith Fair (who also manages many of the acts lined up for Lilith Fair via his Nettwerk label), gushed to MTV News, "The 2010 Lilith Tour isn't just a celebration of women but a celebration of diverse female voices across all genres. The original Lilith Fair broke down boundaries, and the new tour promises to do the same, with a mix of contemporary and classic, established and up-and-coming artists from the worlds of pop, rock, urban country and more." Lilith Fair brought its eclectic, female-centric lineup to cities scattered across the globe from 1997 to 1999, featuring artists like the Dixie Chicks, Christina Aguilera, Bonnie Raitt, Lauryn Hill, Nelly Furtado, Jewel, Sinead O'Connor, Tracy Chapman, Mya, Liz Phair, Dido and more.
One-half of Tegan and Sara, Tegan, recently recalled the formative Lilith Fair gig to MTV News saying, "We only played one show, and it was on the smallest stage, in the rain, to nearly no one. And yet, for the past 10 years, it continues to come up in almost every interview and is something we honestly look back on as a very important event in our career. The impact of Lilith Fair was felt all over the world, and its significance still resonates with women and the music industry itself 10 years later. We are proud to be a part of it again and are truly excited that Lilith is back." Fans who can't wait for Lilith Fair to see the duo (dates have yet to be announced), can get Tegan and Sara tickets online.
The 29-year-old twins released their latest effort, Sainthood, via Vapor/Sire Records on Oct. 27. The sisters recorded the album with Howard Redekopp and Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla. While Tegan and Sara normally write songs individually, they decided to collaborate this time around, and it appears as if switching things up six albums and 10 years into their career paid off! The bulk of the album was written while the sisters were on a trip to New Orleans, La. during the fall of 2008, taking inspiration from Leonard Cohen.
Coinciding with the release of their latest album, Tegan and Sara released a trio of self-titled books called On, In and At. The books chronicle the twins' lives for the past through years through pictures and stories. Tegan and Sara played a batch of dates in support of Sainthood in the U.K., France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Belgium before capping off 2009 with a Dec. 21 show in their native Canada, performing at Victoria, British Columbia's Save On Memorial Center on Dec. 21. Aside from Lilith Fair, Tegan and Sara have dates lined up all the way through April 2010.
