subject: John Mayer Tickets - Finding Time To Party [print this page] In his spare time, when he's not at work composing emotional, acoustic pop melodies on his guitar, John Mayer can be seen out on the town. He is a single 32-year-old man to be fair...oh, and he's a superstar. Recently the hunky heartthrob was found schmoozing it up with country music cutie Taylor Swift at the VEVO launch party in New York City. Mayer recently shared his respect for Swift to Access Hollywood, saying, "It's great to have someone who's hugely talented and still is able to receive the pleasure in all moments."
John Mayer released his fourth studio album, Battle Studies, in November 2009 with its first single "Who Says" becoming a major hit on radio stations around the country. Don't miss his next live performance. Go online and get a pair of John Mayer ticket today.
John Mayer made his entrance into the music world in 2001 when he released Room for Squares. The record presented a well-crafted pop album, infused with catchy jazz melodies. The tracks were smooth, relaxed and heartfelt, giving Mayer an attentive audience, especially among young, college-age women. "Your Body Is a Wonderland" was an instant success, boosting his standing in the pop music world and solidifying his role as one of music's hottest rising stars. Since then, his star is still shining brightly.
As a teenager, Mayer was greatly influenced by the sounds of blues and was a master of the electric guitar. He relocated to Atlanta, Ga. after dropping out of the Berklee College of Music, and like many aspiring singers and songwriters, Mayer made his way around the coffeehouse circuit. His first independently released effort, Inside Out, was entirely acoustic and although a minor success, it was hardly enough to get Mayer into the big leagues. Just a couple years later he signed up with renowned producer John Alagia and released Room for Squares.
It may be hard to fathom Mayer's sudden ascendency. A college dropout who bummed around in coffeehouses and seemingly never learned to brush his hair is hardly a recipe for success. But John Mayer has enough of that "simple guy with a guitar" personality that in retrospect it is easy to see why he's become so popular: he's never strived to be flashy or even hinted at an interest in pursuing performance art a la Lady Gaga. Although musically different, he's of the same ilk as Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and Matt Costa, those regular t-shirt and jeans-wearing studs who shut off the amps, grab a stool and guitar and strum about peace, friends and making love to beautiful women (or dreaming of making love to beautiful women).
As he's progressed in the industry, Mayer has dabbled in other genres like blues, soul and jazz and even collaborated with notables like B.B. King and Eric Clapton. While some may write Mayer off as just a regular dude singing sweet little pop tunes, his true fans understand that beneath his subtle, tousled appearance is a well-polished musician who most certainly has a few musical tricks up his sleeve.
