subject: Prototyping Is Critical For New Inventions [print this page]

New inventions need to be analyzed and tested before it can even be offered to the market. The best way to test and analyze a new invention is by means of prototyping. Not a lot of people support this idea, though. In order to open the mind of the critics, stated in this article are five good reasons why new inventions need prototyping.

The first reason involves patenting. With a prototype on hand, patenting will be a lot easier. If you have an idea or a product and you want to make money out of it or take recognition for it, patent it as soon as you can before someone steals it from you. With prototyping, you can even patent the benefits and features of your product.

Every invention needs some smoothening out. No invention comes out perfect the first time. If you really want to perfect a product, the best thing to do is to have a prototype of it and then use it. If you have it physically in your hands, you can manipulate it and see the flaws you might have missed out. The product is a lot different in a drawing than it is in real life.

The third advantage of prototyping is that with it, you can determine the process of manufacturing needed. Once the invention is approved and you go to the manufacturing stage, you need to carefully lay out the process of its production. If you have not figured out yet your production process, it is time to contact a prototyping manufacturer.

The fourth reason for needing the help of a prototyping manufacturer is related to the production process. Knowing the production process, the steps and the materials needed, you can then compute for the right selling price. If your price is too high, you might want to substitute some of your expensive materials into more affordable ones.

The prototyping manufacturer will be able to deliver you the prototype of your invention. You, as the inventor, can then present it to potential investors. Most investors would rather invest on an idea that is already tangible than the one that is on the conceptualization stage still.
