Studies have shown that green tea could also increase athletic endurance by as much as 24%. Also, a recent study in Japan showed that mice that were given a green tea extract equivalent to drinking 4 cups per day. The mice achieved an improvement in endurance of between 8-24% and also displayed an increase in ability to exercise and calories burned after 10 weeks.
Those that drank the green tea also reduced their abdominal plus lowered their triglycerides.
In addition to cetechins, it is rich in other antioxidants such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG ). An antioxidant in it called EGCG is believed to stimulate the release of fat in to the blood stream from which it is flushed out of the body. Studies have also shown that there is an increase in thermogenesis or the body's production of heat. It is also a source of caffeinne which helps to turn on the thermogenesis process.
